Resonance sound frequencies

Resonance is an open source project with two main parts. 1: Free-to-use web app for sound therapy. 2: A knowledge base markdown file compiled on 29 academic resource documents on sound frequencies and their therapeutic effects. Use it with any LLM for your own project!

An interactive web app and open knowledge base for therapeutic sound frequencies, grounded in peer-reviewed research, ancient traditions, and cymatics. The project is written primarily in HTML, first published in 2026. Key topics include: cymatics, frequencies, frequency-analysis, knowledge-base, markdown-language.

Resonance — Therapeutic Sound Frequencies

An interactive web app and open knowledge base for therapeutic sound frequencies, grounded in peer-reviewed research, ancient traditions, and cymatics.

The App

Resonance is a single-file, zero-dependency web app that lets you play therapeutic frequencies directly in your browser using the Web Audio API.

Features:

  • 9 curated frequency categories with scientific and traditional context
  • Single-tone and layer modes — stack multiple frequencies simultaneously
  • Binaural beat generation with stereo channel separation
  • Per-layer volume control
  • Session timer with auto-fade
  • Real-time waveform visualizer

Frequency categories:

CategoryFrequency RangePurpose
Deep Sleep & Restoration2–3.5 HzDelta brainwave entrainment
Meditation & Trance4.5–7.83 HzTheta / shamanic states
Relaxation & Stress Relief8–12 HzAlpha entrainment
Focus & Cognition14–20 HzLow beta, GABA elevation
Neural Coherence & Brain Health10 / 40 HzGamma therapy, Alzheimer's research
Pain & Physical Healing26–100 HzFibromyalgia, CRPS, nitric oxide
Chakra Frequencies144–475 HzOM spectral analysis
Solfeggio Frequencies396–963 HzAncient solfège scale
Earth & Cosmic Resonance7.83–33.8 HzSchumann resonances

The Knowledge Base

Sound_Frequencies_Knowledge_Base.md is the real heart of this project — a freely available, structured research synthesis you are encouraged to use in your own projects.

It distills 29 source documents spanning:

  • Peer-reviewed clinical studies (fibromyalgia, Alzheimer's, pain, bone healing)
  • EEG / brainwave entrainment research
  • Schumann resonance and geomagnetic biology
  • Vedic sound philosophy and Nāda Brahma
  • Cymatics and the physics of resonance
  • Shamanic drumming and trance research
  • Singing bowl therapy
  • Solfeggio frequency history and analysis
  • Gamma entrainment (40 Hz) neuroscience

What's inside

Highlighted findings

  • 40 Hz — 81% reduction in fibromyalgia scores; 53–68% amyloid-beta reduction in Alzheimer's research; activates microglia; drives thalamocortical repair
  • 50 Hz — 374% increase in nitric oxide production in endothelial cells
  • 7.83 Hz — Earth's fundamental Schumann resonance; documented Zeitgeber for human circadian rhythms
  • Shamanic drumming at 4–4.5 Hz produces theta brainwave entrainment consistent across 30,000+ years of cross-cultural practice
  • OM chanting produces 7–8 spectral peaks mapping to traditional chakra frequency bands

Use the Knowledge Base in Your Project

The knowledge base is MIT licensed — take it, adapt it, build on it.

Some ideas:

  • Build your own frequency therapy app (the raw source data lives in pdf_texts/)
  • Train or prompt an AI model with the research synthesis
  • Create a meditation or binaural beat generator
  • Build a data visualization of frequency-effect relationships
  • Use it as a research starting point for a wellness or neuroscience project

If you build something with it, feel free to open an issue or discussion — I would love to see what you make.

Running Locally

No build step required. Just open index.html in a browser:

bash
git clone https://github.com/JTruax/sound-frequencies-knowledge-base.git cd sound-frequencies-knowledge-base open index.html # macOS # or: xdg-open index.html (Linux) / start index.html (Windows)

Sources

The pdf_texts/ directory contains the raw text extracted from the 29 source documents used to compile the knowledge base, including studies by:

  • Naghdi et al. (fibromyalgia / 40 Hz)
  • Iaccarino et al. (Alzheimer's / gamma entrainment)
  • Schumann & König (Earth resonance / biological effects)
  • Stapleton et al. (meditation EEG, 223 subjects)
  • Horowitz & Puleo (solfeggio frequencies)
  • Neher & Maxfield (shamanic drumming / trance)
  • Rein (DNA repair / frequency)
